Great article, very insightful...I never realized the role our dental community could play in recognizing and ulimately stopping physical abuse. Kudos to Dr. Shanel-Hogan for her actions then and now and to Julie Leibach for creatively capturing the drama of this event by allowing the reader to travel inside the story, back to its origin, and this dentist's journey to enlighten her peers and bring about positive changes within the profession. I hope this author has more articles on the way.

My husband Jim and I are very proud that our daughter followed her knowledge of dentistry and was able to protect this young patient. She has continued to use her expertise in the following years.
Kudos to Julie Leibach for her inspiring article.

                      Regards,
                       Jim & Loraine Shanel
