Another deadly problem is that of unregulated supplements, which congress deprived of FDA oversight in 1994.  Hundreds of deaths later, they realized maybe that wasn&#039;t actually such a great idea...</description>

Recently, the antibiotic Ketek was discontinued due to recent deaths to patients on the treatment...the hospital I work at (which will remain unnamed) definitely used this product. This is what you get when you mix capitalism with medicine...the patients are left high and dry.</description>

		<description>Excellent write-up Rachele; it was very informative.  It seems strange (and disconcerting) that the FDA would presuppose a drug to be safe and effective until proven otherwise.  I’m going to add the AHRP website into my “collection of websites I use to research a drug, before taking that drug.”</description>
