I published this idea in 2001 in my article in Medical Hypotheses. A pheromone that has never been investigated properly is the facial skin surface lipids, sebum, passed in kissing. The chemistry is close to the rat pheromone I mentioned above, but much more complex. As a general rule among species, pheromone mixtures have more synergistic components as sociality increases. Human facial skin surface lipid pheromone, with more than 700 components, is an order of magnitude more complex than any other species known. Our receptor system is also the largest. It's pervasive covering most of the upper respiratory system with brush border sensory microvillar cells, and even extends into the digestive tract. (Ever felt stomach pain after being betrayed in romance?) So therapeutically, we can help people with OCD, criminal behavior, runaway behavior, perversion behavior, even drug seeking behavior (but not drunkenness it turns out), with a few hundred milligrams of masculine adult male facial skin surface lipid kissing pheromone provided p.o.
